The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has issued another Small Craft and High Surf Warning as strong winds continue to generate rough sea conditions around the island.

The advisory remains in effect for the remainder of the week, particularly impacting the northern, eastern, and southern coastlines.

Marine users and coastal residents are urged to exercise caution as swells between 2.5 to 3.5 meters (8 to 11 feet) are expected, peaking between today and Friday, April 4. A gradual reduction in wave heights is anticipated from Saturday, April 5.

The warning highlights the risk of hazardous conditions for small vessels, possible loss of life or injury, and wave overtopping onto roads and property near the shoreline. Beach erosion is also expected, particularly along the eastern coast.

The adverse marine conditions stem from a strong Atlantic high-pressure system, producing winds between 20-25 knots across the region. These conditions will persist through Friday before easing over the weekend.

The Small Craft and High Surf Warning was issued at 12:00 p.m. and will be updated at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, or sooner if conditions change.
