GEORGETOWN – A 15-year-old  boy is among two people shot and killed when they attempted to rob a Chinese-owned supermarket in the capital, Georgetown, on Tuesday night.

Police said that Tyrese Adams and 22-year-old Orwin Garraway, who both lived in East Ruimveldt, a neighbourhood on the outskirts of the capital, died at the scene, while two of their accomplices managed to escape.

Police said a Glock-17 pistol with eight matching rounds was found next to the body of one of the dead men and that incident occurred on Tuesday night when two armed masked suspects entered the supermarket, dressed in dark coloured clothing and wearing ski masks.

The two attacked the owner of the supermarket and a cashier as a cleaner bolted from the building. While demanding money and emptying the two cash registers, the armed security guard emerged from the rear of the supermarket, opening fire on the two suspects and catching them off guard.

One of the men died inside the supermarket, while the other fell onto the road about 15 feet west of the supermarket.

Two motorcycles, with their engines still running, were observed outside of the supermarket.

The body of the 22-year-old bore gunshot wounds to his right and left side ribs, hands, nose and right shoulder, while the body of the 15-year-old sustained gunshot wounds to the upper right shoulder, abdomen, one to his lower back and left hip.

The Police said CCTV video recordings of the incident were retrieved as the investigations continue. They said the search is continuing for the other two suspects. (CMC)
