Face-to-face classes are back on the books for Grantley Adams Memorial School.

Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw announced last night that students will return to their classrooms on Monday when school resumes, several weeks after remote classes had become the order of the day due to environmental concerns at the Blackman’s, St Joseph school.

Archer-Bradshaw said that in addition to Grantley Adams, special cleaning and other industrial work and refurbishments have been completed at other primary schools, which are now ready for students and staff.

“The extensive treatment for fungal spores has been completed, along with the cleaning of all painted surfaces, which

were initially of concern, and deep cleaning of all buildings has occurred,” she reported.

“At St Paul’s Primary, the repair work to the roof was completed, and the hall also underwent a treatment process known as misting, which combats mould. At St Lucy Primary, tiling of their hall was also completed.”

Gordon Walters Primary underwent an electrical upgrade and minor repairs were conducted at St Stephen’s Primary, inclusive of work to improve plumbing in the bathrooms, she added. (BA/PR)
