The Government of Barbados is warning the public about a fraudulent website that is charging unsuspecting travellers for services that are offered free of charge by the state.
The website in question, https://barbadostravelform.org/, is soliciting payments from individuals for the Barbados Immigration and Customs travel form, demanding a US$39 service fee.
In a statement issued by Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, Ryan Straughn, citizens and visitors were cautioned against using the site, as it is not affiliated with any Government agency.
“Please note that any information submitted on this website does not come to the Immigration or Customs Department, nor does any of the monies paid come to the Treasury of Barbados,” Straughn stated.
He made it clear that the legitimate Government of Barbados travel form is available free of cost at https://www.travelform.gov.bb, and there is no requirement to pay for access or submission.
Straughn further assured that the Government is working closely with relevant stakeholders in key source markets to address the matter and prevent travellers to Barbados from being misled.
“The Government of Barbados does not have any affiliation with the website and will work with all the relevant stakeholders in the main markets to ensure travellers to Barbados are not misinformed,” he added. (Nation News)
