Alexandra School has been closed for today because of flooding, while schools across the rest of Barbados remain open.
The Ministry of Education Transformation said the decision was taken in the interest of the safety of students and staff.
Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw consulted with Director of the Barbados Meteorological Services Sabu Best before determining that the prevailing rainy conditions were not severe enough to warrant widespread school closures.
The Ministry is advising parents to ensure children wear protective clothing and take the necessary precautions while travelling to and from school in the wet conditions. (PR)
