THE Barbados Public Workers’ Co-operative Credit Union Ltd (BPWCCUL), the title sponsor of Laff-it-Off 2025, is marking seven consecutive years of partnership with the theatrical production. This year’s sponsorship is particularly special as Laff-it-Off celebrates an incredible 40 years of delivering top-tier, socially relevant comedic entertainment, while BPWCCUL proudly looks forward to commemorating its 55th anniversary on May 6, 2025.

Laff-it-Off has captivated audiences for four decades, using its signature improvisational comedy to satirise local and regional social and political issues. The production remains a cultural staple, engaging audiences with its timely and dynamic content. The 2025 season kicked off on January 25 and runs every Saturday until March 22 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

Chief Marketing & Member/Customer Experience, Gail Best-Niles said the continued partnership is particularly special this year. “For the past seven years, BPWCCUL has proudly served as the title sponsor of Laffit- Off, and this year, the collaboration is even more special as Laff-it-Off marks 40 years of satirical excellence while we at BPWCCUL gear up to celebrate our 55th anniversary on May 6,” Best-Niles stated at a recently held media launch.

“Laff-it-Off has long been a staple on our cultural calendar, offering Barbadians a unique way to engage with the social and political landscape through humour. Much like the credit union, it evolves with the times, ensuring it stays relevant and relatable to audiences.”

Director of Laff-it-Off, Ian Estwick reminisced on the early days of Laff-it-Off which launched in November 1985, and emphasised the highs and lows experienced in the last 40 years. “Forty years is definitely a long time and we are proud to have employed over 165 Barbadians in one capacity or the other over the years to provide a show that Barbadians long look forward to”.

“Longevity is one thing, but it has to be supported, and we have always been fortunate to have some committed sponsors who believe in our product and help us along the way, such as the BPWCCUL. Despite the challenges, specifically financially, we were adamant that we would make something of the production.”

As part of their sponsorship, BPWCCUL will engage and reward patrons throughout the season to include promotions on select nights. The shows will run every Saturday from 8 p.m. at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre with the finale on March 22.
