Grantley Adams International Airport Inc. (GAIA Inc.) proudly announces that its Director of Operations, Mr. Piétrick Voyer, has been honoured with the prestigious Airport Leader of the Future award at the International Airport Summit 2024 held in Amsterdam. This accolade recognises his visionary leadership, innovation, and commitment to excellence in airport operations.
Voyer was selected from an impressive field of nominees, including notable leaders from Teesside International Airport, Aena, the world’s number one airport operator in terms of passenger traffic and Dallas Fort Worth Airport.
Hadley Bourne, CEO of GAIA Inc., expressed his pride in Voyer’s achievement.: “We are proud of Piétrick for receiving this well-deserved accolade. His dedication to operational excellence and his ability to foster a unified airport community have elevated GAIA Inc.’s reputation on the global stage. I look forward to seeing the continued positive impact of his leadership.”
Since joining GAIA Inc. in October 2022, Voyer has championed transformative initiatives that have elevated operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and collaboration within the airport community. Central to his leadership has been fostering a sense of unity and purpose among all airport stakeholders, ensuring that every entity contributes to delivering a seamless passenger experience.
A key highlight of his tenure, which continues to contribute to the elevation of the airport’s productivity, is the collaboration with the National Transformation Initiative (NTI), led by Dr Allyson Leacock. Under Voyer’s guidance, every entity within the airport community receives tailored training sessions aimed at enhancing personal and professional skills and building a culture of continuous learning and growth. Through its partnership with Coursera, the NTI has provided to Barbadians and the GAIA community free access to thousands of online courses where users can expand their knowledge with no restrictions. This initiative has positioned GAIA Inc. as a leader in employee development and cross-sector collaboration.
In September 2024, Voyer was invited to serve as a panellist at the ACI World Customer Experience Summit in Atlanta, United States. His insights on promoting collaboration within airport ecosystems and achieving operational excellence in the Caribbean context were well-received, further cementing his reputation as a thought leader in the industry.
Additionally, in November 2024, Voyer joined the panel at the ACI-LAC General Assembly in Guadalajara, Mexico, and contributed to discussions about opportunities for integrating regional airports into global aviation frameworks.
Upon receiving the award, Voyer expressed heartfelt appreciation for GAIA Inc. staff and the wider airport community, stating, “Having come from the Caribbean, specifically Martinique, I adopted the mindset that no matter where my career takes me, I am an ambassador for the Caribbean. I’m grateful to have worked in several airports around the world. That’s why being able to bring the knowledge and experience I’ve gained back to benefit the region, and specifically GAIA Inc., is deeply meaningful to me.
“The Caribbean may be a small part of the world, and our airports may not match the size or passenger traffic of larger international hubs, but that does not limit our potential. We can rise to the top and compete on a global scale.
“This award recognises the exceptional achievements and contributions in the industry and the dedication to excellence, innovation, and responsible development. While this award recognised what I have achieved holistically so far in my career worldwide, I strongly believe that part of my nomination is also due to my presence at GAIA.
“As such, I celebrate the collective efforts of the incredible team at GAIA Inc., under the leadership of our chief executive officer, Hadley Bourne, and our unified airport community. Together, we are setting new standards for excellence and ensuring the world sees the bar that Barbados has set and the hard work we continue to deliver. I am proud to work with such dedicated individuals, and I look forward to continuing our shared journey of growth and innovation as we take GAIA Inc. to the next level.”
GAIA Inc. extends its congratulations to Voyer on this significant achievement and remains committed to supporting his vision for the future of airport operations in Barbados and beyond.
