The Barbados Police Service already has two men in custody assisting with investigations surrounding two shootings that occurred in Christ Church earlier today.

Four people received serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the two incidents.

The first occurred at the car park of the Sheraton Centre, Sargeant’s Village, and the second shooting was at McClean Drive in Silver Sands.

In the first shooting, a man was shot in the leg but managed to close the door of a barber shop to prevent the entry of two masked men who had arrived at Sheraton on a motorcycle, after which the pillion rider disembarked and fired several shots in the direction of the shop.

Police said less than 30 minutes later, the same men, on the same motorbike, entered Silver Sands and fired several shots at a group of men liming under a tree. A passerby who attempted to run was hit in the leg by a bullet.

Law enforcement confirmed this evening that two firearms were also recovered during the apprehension of the two men. (BA)
