PM Mottley: Hold on to the end

admin

Prime Minister Mia Mottley knows that some Barbadians and supporters of the ruling BLP may not be entirely satisfied with their personal gains over the party’s first year in office. But she has reminded Barbadians that the sacrifices made, will lead to success in the end.

Mottley was addressing hundreds of party members and citizens during a Sunday morning service at the James Street Methodist church as the ruling BLP began celebrations to commemorate the first year in office after its resounding victory at the polls on May 24, 2018.

“I want to say to the people of Barbados that this has been an amazing start and it could not be without you. We made it very clear from day one that we couldn’t do this job alone and that we needed all hands on deck.

“Yesterday we had a ten-hour marathon session and we reminded the country again that we need all hands on deck. The battles that we face – some we anticipated and others we have found; but all we have to confront, and with your help as a nation and your help one by one and with your good will, I am confident that we shall be victorious in transforming our nation,” she promised.

In attendance were numerous MPs, members of Cabinet and ambassadors and members of the ‘BLP family’, who PM Mottley addressed directly.

“I want to thank now the family of the Barbados Labour Party. We are nothing without you and you have helped us carry this journey. Some of you may not yet have had all of your wishes and aspirations satisfied. You have had to help lift heavy weight and we are conscious of it. But we also know that Rome was not built in a day.

“Just as we set a simple target to be capable of saving our dollar, which we have done, I ask the country now as I have done in every speech this week and as I will continue to do, to join us in the next mission. The difficulty is that this is not a short term mission. This is the ‘real-real’ mission. To be the best that we can be…If we can be the best that we can be, I promise you that this country shall rise in glory and be a beacon that all will come to emulate across the world,” promised Mottley.  (KS)
