News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. Sept. 17, 2018: A 30-year-old man has been arrested in the murder of a Caribbean-roots, NYC correction officer.

Gifford Hunter, 30, a Metropolitan Transportation Authority, (MTA), bus maintenance worker of Queens, has been arrested on murder and other charges in the death of Guyanese-roots Jonathan Narain, also of Queens, NY, according to the New York Police Department, (NYPD).

Gifford faces charges of second-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal use of a firearm in the second degree.

Narain, 27, whose parents are from Guyana, was on his way to work at Rikers Island and was stopped at a traffic light in the corner of 103rd Avenue and 120th Street in South Richmond Hill Friday morning when a man on a motorcycle shot him once in the left temple after a brief conversation.

Police say they did not know what the two men argued about before the shooting.

Narain was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
