Weather Update: Tropical Storm Isaac


Forecasters have issued no warning or watches for Barbados as Tropical Storm Isaac continues to make a steady trek across the Central Atlantic.

At 11 a.m., the system was located near 14.6 degrees north , 49.7 degrees west or about 670 miles east of Barbados.

On its current track, the system is forecast to pass 100-150 miles north of Barbados early on Thursday morning.

The Met office says an outer band associated with Isaac will bring some scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms early tomorrow morning.  It added that the system will also generate moderate to heavy showers and occasional gusty winds  early Thursday morning into Friday.

The forecasters also cautioned that rainfall accumulations of 2-4 inches are possible from Thursday into Friday.

Meanwhile, a small craft warning and a high surf advisory will take effect from 6 p.m. on Wednesday until further notice.

At noon, The National Hurricane Center issued hurricane watches for Dominica, Guadeloupe, and Martinique while a tropical storm watch was issued for Antigua and Montserrat.
