Sky’s the limit for Q-Lemar

admin

Twenty-eight-year-old Quinn Q-Lemar Belgrave is back at it again after releasing his debut song Woii for Crop Over 2017. The former Richard Stoute Teen Talent Champion has entered the competition again this year with his song All Over De Road (Bram).

Q: Who is Q-Lemar?

A:  Q-Lemar is a fun loving, humble and cool individual who loves music and art.

Q: If you had to describe yourself in three words what would they be?

A:  Humble, Creative and Comical

Q: What is one thing that the general public would not know about Q-Lemar?

A: I am pretty much an “open book” but one thing a lot of people don’t know is that I love country music, and I wanted to be a country singer.

Q: How did you become involved in music?

A: I started singing at about age nine while I was attending The Society Primary School and [at] secondary school, I would sing here and there around the school. I would watch videos of older singers, etc., and I decided that this is what I wanted to do. In 2005, I entered the Richard Stoute Teen Talent competition. After three years of trying in 2008, I won [that] competition and from there I have been chasing the dream.

Q: What does Crop Over mean to you?

A: Crop Over to me means freedom. It is the time where we as people get to release our life’s stresses and problems.

Q: Looking back how was Crop Over 2017 for you?

A:  Crop Over 2017 was really my first time having such a good response to a song. I did not get a hit song, but the song was aired on radio which was a step in the right direction. I enjoyed being noticed.

Q: Are you excited about Crop Over 2018?

A: I am always excited for Crop Over. I love the new music coming out, the vibe is nice.

Q: Tell Bajan Vibes about your song for 2018, All Over De Road (Bram).

A:  All Over De Road (Bram) was written while I was at work. I had four lines to the song I would sing constantly. I realized my co-workers’ response was good; they would sing the lines of the song that I repeatedly sang so as the days went on I wrote it and got it produced. It was produced by Sherwayne Frederick, recorded at GHO Entertainment studios and mixed and mastered by Andrew Denny. The song is really about an individual having a good time after a while of waiting.

Q: Will you be entering any soca competitions this year? Any new ones that Bajan Vibes should make a note of?

A: Yes, I entered the International Bashment Soca Competition.

Q:  Outside of being an entertainer what does Q-Lemar do for fun?

A:  Aside from singing and song writing, I like to write poetry, draw, sleep and chill with friends.

Q: Are you inspired by any regional or international artiste? If so, who and why?

A:  My favourite artistes are Bunji Garlin and Machel. I like Machel’s work ethic and his energy on stage and in his songs. Bunji’s lyrical ability, his aggressive way of singing and his energy inspire me to write in different ways.

Q: What is next for Q-Lemar?

A:  I believe the sky is the limit. Hopefully I progress. I will keep promoting, writing and releasing. Being well-known around the world is the aim. This Crop Over will be a stepping stone toward that.

Q: Where can persons follow you on social media?

A: People can follow me on Instagram @lemarquinn or contact my management Creative Caribbean at creativecaribbranartist@gmail.com
