Chris: BLP tapping our cellular phones

The Barbados Labour Party has a “dirty tricks division” that is working overtime ahead of Thursday’s general election, Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler has claimed.

He was speaking Sunday night at a political meeting in Thorpes, St James where he also claimed that they were tapping him and Prime Minister Freundel Stuart’s cellular phones and listening in on calls.

“My intelligence tells me [they have] now taken up base on a plantation in St George deep in the woods are at their mischief again. They are monitoring the phones of people in this campaign, including the Prime Minister’s, my phone and also potentially officials of Government who may be involved in organizing this election,” he said.

Sinckler charged that the division was attacking people on social media who spoke about party leader Mia Mottley, even those who spoke the truth.

“I keep warning you’ll that the Labour Party has a dirty tricks division. They practise these dirty tricks every single day. This is a plan. This is a mission. You see what happens on Facebook. If you go on Facebook and say, ‘buh’ bout Mia Mottley about 500 rats does crawl out of a hole and start gnawing way at yuh. Look dem nearly kill poor Michael Howard because he spoke the truth,” he said.

The incumbent Member of Parliament for St Michael North West also warned the gathering that Mottley did not care about them and that she would treat them the same way she treated former Prime Minister Owen Arthur. He said he understands they wrote Arthur a letter saying he had to apologize to Sir Elliott Mottley.

“This thing about Mia cares. Mia cares about herself. Mia cares about her father. Mia cares about her mother. Mia cares about [her campaign assistant] Carol Roberts. She cares about all those people running about behind her. She does not care about you. You are something to be used and discarded like how they used Arthur and pelt him one side,” he stated.

Sinckler condemned the party’s mistreatment of Arthur and said it was not right.

“Arthur led the party for more than 15 years and was Prime Minister for 14 years and they produce a booklet of the leaders and cut out Owen Arthur. It serves Arthur right ‘cause we were always telling him ‘you are a vessel to be used’, but he got into the joys of being Prime Minister. He is now discovering that so many things were done behind his back, including wiretapping Arthur’s phone.” (IMC)
