Nursery assistant accused of stealing US$105

A man and a woman who appeared before a Bridgetown magistrate charged with separate offences are now out on bail after denying the allegations leveled against them.

Lucien Juanita Michelle St John, of #47 Shop Hill Terrace, St Thomas is accused of stealing US$105 belonging to Kathy-Ann Leacock on August 17.

The 48-year-old nursery assistant was released on a $1,600 surety when she appeared before Acting Magistrate Sandra Rawlins today.

Also appearing before Rawlins in the District ‘A’ Traffic Court was Jamar Akil Maughan of King’s Village, King’s Street, St Michael.

There were no objections to bail from the prosecutor, Sergeant Vernon Waithe after the 22-year-old clerk denied assaulting Shekina Boyce on August 22, occasioning her actual bodily harm.

He was granted bail in the sum of $2,500 with one surety.

Both St John and Maughan are to reappear in court on December 7.
