Some 80 persons, including children, are now homeless after fire razed a tenement dwelling on Mark Lane in downtown Kingston, Jamaica today.
There are no reports of injuries.
According to residents, the house provides shelter for some 30 children.
Residents told The Gleaner that the fire started shortly after midday.
It was not immediately clear what caused it, but some residents believe it started after one of the youngsters attempted to use a stove to warm up some soup.
Amid a strong police presence, residents scrambled to save items of furniture and other personal belongings. (Jamaica Gleaner)
