Pamela Anderson Runs For Haiti

News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Sun. Nov. 3, 2013: Former Baywatch star, Pamela Anderson, completed the 26-mileNew York City Marathon Sunday, raising some $75,864 for the J/P Haitian Relief Organization.

The Canadian-born Anderson, 46, ran alongside her brother Gerry for actor Sean Penn’s charity.

Anderson, who walked and ran, said she was elated after completing the marathon. She tweeted a picture of her and Gerry at the finish line with the message: “So proud of my brother Gerry. Thank G. For running next to me today – love you lots (sic).”

Anderson ran the race after being approached by Penn to help raise $500,000 for his charity, which aims to save lives and bring sustainable programs to Haiti as it continues to recover from the 2010 earthquake.

Also running for the organization Sunday were Haitian runners, Astrel Clovis, Carline Lamour, Jean Macksony, Bertine Laine and Petrus Cesarion.

The five Haitian athletes were sponsored by the organization’s “Long Run for Haiti” campaign on the online CrowdRise fundraising site. Each got their position on the 10-person team by finishing in the top spots of a 20-kilometer qualifying race in Haiti in June.

So far over $288,000 have been raised for the group by the team.

The J/P Haitian Relief Organization is dedicated to saving lives and bringing sustainable programs to the Haitian people quickly and effectively.
