UN official: Syria death toll data reliable

The United Nations says that more than 5,000 people are believed to have been killed in the Syrian government’s crackdown on protests since the country’s uprising began in March. Navi Pillay, the UN human rights chief, said on Monday that at least 300 children were among the dead.
