CaribWorldNews, WASHINGTON, D.C., Thurs. Sept. 23, 2010: Caribbean and other nationals seeking to obtain a green card to come to the U.S. can try the new 2012 lottery, which opens next month.

The Department of State yesterday said its DV-2012 Diversity Visa lottery program registration period will open on Tuesday, October 5, 2010.

Entries again must be submitted electronically via www.dvlottery.state.gov between noon on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 and noon on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). All entries will be free and as with any lottery, a win is largely by chance and cannot be guaranteed by any individual.

The congressionally mandated Diversity Immigrant Visa Program is administered annually by the Department of State and makes up to 55,000 Diversity Visas (DV) available each fiscal year to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.
