CaribWorldNews, WASHINGTON, D.C., Tues. June 8, 2010: U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, is set to be in Barbados tomorrow for a meeting with Caribbean leaders.
Clinton will meet with leaders of Caribbean nations on June 9th `to discuss issues of mutual interest,` a statement from the Department of State said.
The meeting comes on the heels of her travel to Peru, Ecuador, Colombia to participate in the General Assembly of the Organization of American States and to consult with our regional partners on issues of shared interest. The meeting comes just days after a security meeting in Washington between U.S. officials and regional leaders.
It is unclear what issues will be raised at the meeting but Caribbean Diaspora leaders are hopeful that Caribbean leaders will raise the issue of immigration reform, an issue germane to many in the U.S. Caribbean American community.
