Ten Dead Following Florida Boat Collapse


CaribWorldNews, FORT LAUDERDALE, Fl, Thurs. May 14, 2009: Ten people were declared dead Wednesday after U.S. Coast Guards responded to a capsized migrant boat off the coast of Florida that is believed to be from Haiti and the Bahamas.

US Coast Guard crews last night were continuing the search for more missing people after a vessel capsized about 15 miles east of Boynton Beach, Fla., Wednesday.

In total, 27 people have been recovered of which 10 are deceased, the Coast Guard said last night.  Crews responded to a Good Samaritan call around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday reporting numerous people in the water and indicating that three had been recovered.
