Fugitive Bahamas Teacher To Be Extradited From NY

CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. May 11, 2009: A Bahamas teacher who allegedly molested two of his students, could soon be extradited from the U.S.

Andre Bernard Birbal, 46, was arrested in New York on Sunday May 3rd for a traffic violation. His record was run through the system and it was discovered he had a warrant out for his arrest in reference to allegations of sex crimes.

Birbal had been sought by Bahamian authorities after two male victims claimed he molested them for seven years while he taught at the Eight Mile Rock High School.
 
Bahamian authorities say they are going through the necessary procedures to have Birbal extradited.
